Julie Stuart

WAYFINDER AND STRATEGIST

I am fascinated by the light shimmering on water, with glimmers of brilliant insight bursting from the imagination, and with the 360-degree view from a sailboat where all you can see is water and sky. These are experiences of the liminal, that in-between space of possibility and wonder which feels like home for me, this place of emergence.

Which is why I can help you navigate emergent change because it’s similar to when I captain a sailboat and I am aware of:

1: Where you are, where you’re going and what’s happening.

2: What to do when the conditions suddenly change and you have to make dynamic decisions in your strategic movement forward to get everyone to the other shore.

For more than two decades I’ve guided businesses, organizations, and individuals through challenging situations to a place of deep vision, clarity, alignment, direction, and new strategies forward which also comes with a sense of peace, new-found enthusiasm, trust, and connection

You may know me from my company Making Ideas Visible where in hundreds of meetings with teams, organizations and individuals, I’ve guided clients like you to realize your new inspired vision and strategy.

I see myself as the boat that takes you on an experiential journey from the shore where you are now across the ocean to a bright new horizon where everything is possible.

With an undergrad in political science and a masters in fine art, I have uniquely charted an innovative path as a facilitator and designer of transformative experiences that catalyze change at the organizational and individual level. I thrive in navigating the terrain of emergence, holding open a space of the unknown for possibility to arise from collective genius and for real substantial change to happen.

I’m here for the work you’re ready to do.

A little more about me…

All my life since I was a tot, I’ve had a soulmate-level relationship with water.

I’m a water person - and I don’t just mean someone who has a natural ease and love for the ocean - but someone whose orientation to the world comes from my animist relationship to water as an element and wisdom keeper. It’s different than when you are oriented to land which has seasons and cycles. Water has environments, changing conditions, weather, depth, and moods. It’s not linear, it’s atmospheric, a kind of dream state. These are all experiences of the liminal, that in-between space of possibility and wonder. A potent place of emergence which I’ve learned to navigate.

I’m a sailor, an artist, a 5Rhythms dance movement teacher and a community builder.

The work I do is for visionaries, disruptors, and dreamers; leaders who aren’t satisfied with the status quo and feel the urgency to actualize their boldest aspirations, tap into their people's latent ingenuity, empathy, and courage, especially if your work is about our oceans.
